The CHAAD Project and Survivors Know are Chicago-based organizing action hubs. CHAAD is an advocacy organization that empowers and supports hospitality workers in Chicago. Survivors Know builds the economic power of survivors of power-based sexual violence by organizing, challenging the status quo, and creating alternatives to the systems that fail us.

The deep collaboration of our organizations is natural; there are countless survivors of gender and power-based violence in hospitality, due to the inherent unequal power structures that are so present within our industry. We seek to cultivate a new type of hospitality; one that is rooted in solidarity and collaboration rather than hierarchy and individualism. We can shape this industry to a place where we all thrive.

CHAAD: The Chicago Hospitality Accountability & Advocacy Database (CHAAD) Project is an organization created by and for hospitality workers in Chicago to advance accountability and end toxicity within the industry. CHAAD nurtures an intentional community that provides affirmative and equitable resources for and by workers. CHAAD was first created to document the anti-racist and pandemic safety policies of hospitality establishments and has since become a project working to develop a community-care hub and organizing center. The CHAAD team is a decentralized group of former and current hospitality workers, therapists, and organizers.

Survivors Know is a community of action and solidarity for survivors of power-based sexual violence. As survivors we organize, challenge the status quo, and create alternatives to the systems that fail us. Each day we set out to inspire, challenge power dynamics that create and feed injustices, center those of us most impacted and organize workplaces where we all thrive.
